Here’s a product created by cartoonist Matt Hawkins. Coming from a packaging background myself, I know just how hard it is to design 3D objects out of 2D materials. What Matt has done is phenomenal. Keep checking in on his blog as he likes to give away some of his designs for you to try at home.

Okay, I’m either making the biggest change in my computing life or a huge mistake. After many years of denying that Mac was better than a PC, I have finally conceded. I have ordered a new Macbook but this will not be my first experience with a Mac. I had worked with Macs in the various design houses before but at home it was always the PC.
I had the same expensive Adode programs that I had at work on my PC at home and they always seemed to run way better. I’m not sure if that was because I could afford a kick ass PC for the same dollars as I would have spent on a Mac or if it was the user [yes, I admit I am not perfect]. Whatever the case, I am no longer the “tweaker” I was when I was younger. I used to go into the software of the PC and “make things better” by tweaking this or that. I thought it would make my experience better but it really just takes up a hell of a lot of time.
Even though I am the most dilagent out of all of my friends when it comes to virus protection, I would still get an infection or two from time to time. It’s not a big deal to me but maybe I will feel way more relaxed and not worry about weather or not my virus database is up to date.
All in all, I expect the experience to be pretty good. I love to learn new things and this is a doozy.

Whilst researching and looking for tattoo artists to spotlight on my blog I ran across an artist that didn’t just inspire me, he blew me away. I’m talking about Shawn Barber of New York. Actually, he’s not a tattoo artist [though he has a few of his own] in fact, Shawn’s subjects are the tattoo artists. He pays homage to the likes of Bob Roberts, Kat Von D, Rick Walters, and Mark Mahoney just to name a few.

Tattooed Self Portrait II
He often paints his subjects as a tattoo photographer would, recording all sides of and arm or a leg or even a torso but with Shawn he shows all sides in the same painting, giving them a somewhat disturbing appearance. Using only tattooed figures is a great “gimmick” but he doesn’t need it. His incredible paintings of the human figure are that of a master.

I have just finished a design for a local dog obedience school. Went on my own tangent with this one and the customer had something different in mind but I liked working on this one so much I lost track of the goal

Here’s a great idea and one I’ve done before. Take a child’s drawing and fine tune it. Imbellish some of the oddities that their little brains come up with. This is a sample from Frank Chimero’s website.

This is an amazing review of most of the available Twitter apps out there today for the iphone by Jesse David Hollington. I personally use Twitterfon for all those reasons listed by Jesse in his review and he gave it the highest mark, an A- !

Last year my son’s teacher decided to teach her kindergarten class about colour and composition and used Wassily Kandinsky (1886-1944) as an example. She had them reproduce his work “Squares with Concentric Rings“. This is my son’s work which I posthumously displayed in the hallway by his bedroom.

I decided to act on some advice from the owner of Tartooful on East 2nd in Lower Lonsdale and do some fun character painting for her shop. I have done three so far and two have been added to my gallery page. I will be creating many more designs soon and will post them when they are complete.
